To reach Forte Pozzacchio, immerse yourself in the unique landscape of the Valli del Leno (Leno Valleys). Enjoy a walk along the ancient military road that leads from the parking area to the entrance of the fortress.

To see but not be seen, the secret is encapsulated in this phrase and in the rock that guards the fortress.

An important work of recovery and preservation, with a color that blends with the blue of the sky and the green of the woods.

We were unable to take a guided tour as it was not scheduled on the day of our visit But even the self-guided tour was truly interesting At the entrance, they provided us with plenty of information about the route and what we would see. The restoration work was truly intelligent, preserving the original structure while allowing visitors to access almost all of the rooms. The walk from the parking area to the fortress is comfortable and offers panoramic views, taking approximately 20-30 minutes. Just before the fortress, there is a bar/restaurant (and ticket office). The staff at both the bar and the fortress were extremely kind and helpful.

A very large fortress spread across three floors. The nighttime guided tour is particularly captivating and atmospheric. It can be reached on foot with a 20-minute walk from the free parking area. There is a refreshment point available at the ticket office. I highly recommend taking the guided tour as it allows access to areas that are otherwise not visitable. It is mandatory to have a flashlight for the nighttime visit.

Completely carved into the rock, this Austro-Hungarian military fortress, built shortly before the First World War, was initially bombed during the war, then abandoned and stripped of all useful materials. Thanks to the work of the association of the same name and the municipality of Tambeno, the fortress has been cleaned, restored, and is now open for visits. Visitors can explore the fortress through a self-guided tour or, highly recommended, join the guided tours organized by the association. These tours not only provide insights into the history and evolution of the fortress but also grant access to all the interior spaces. The road directions to the fortress are clear. Once you reach the parking area, you can follow a dirt road that leads to the fortress in approximately 20 minutes. There, you will find the ticket office and a refreshment point.

On the evening of August 12th, my wife, a couple of friends, and I participated in the nighttime event to visit the fortress. The trail that led us from the parking area to the fortress immersed us, both physically and mentally, in a place where historical events could be felt profoundly. Thanks to the staff who guided us during the event, we had a magical evening filled with history and astronomy. The nighttime visit to the fortress heightened the sensation of reliving (even indirectly and from a distance) the hardships of war. The closing of the evening with the provided information about shooting stars and the visible planets with the naked eye added the final touch to an unforgettable experience. Thank you
